Casual holiday position based in Gladstone

 

About Us

Gladstone Region Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (GRAICCHS) trading as Nhulundu Health Service provides a comprehensive range of primary health care, aged care and community support services. Nhulundu Health Service has been successfully delivering aged care services for 20 years and is continually expanding to meet the needs of the Gladstone community. Nhulundu would like to support our Aged Care clients increase their use of, and competency in, using technology for communication and health service access. 

We are looking for university students who can provide education to Aged Care clients in the effective use of technologies such as I-pads, tablets and smart phones to increase their social connectedness and access to online health services. This will also include teaching online safety with using technology. The positions are casual for the holiday period with sessions to be primarily delivered as part of social group activity programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, plan and teach
  • Deliver online or in-person tutoring
  • Classes either one-on-one or a small group
  • Schedule and confirm lessons with clients
  • Determine with client their skill level and desired outcome
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for clients
  • Teach skills, assess and provide feedback to ensure client is proficient in technology use
  • Create or enhance self-help resources and how-to guides

Requirements:

  • Excellent people skills
  • Committed to teaching and mentoring combined with
  • providing support and feedback
  • Must be reliable, punctual with good time management skills
  • A passion for technology and the ability to impart this passion and knowledge to others
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent knowledge of technology and how it can be utilised to support the elderly
  • A mindset and commitment to continuous learning and personal development for all ages
  • Confident communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to take time to communicate a message in different styles and approaches to ensure your message is understood by a range of learners

About you

  • A supportive and community minded person, able to work with a range of learners to support them in building skills and opportunities for themselves through learning
  • Have the capacity and desire to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to obtain Blue Card and Police Check
  • Own vehicle (travel allowance will be paid)
