Occupational Therapist

(Full time position – based in Gladstone working across the surrounding region)

 

Gladstone Region Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (GRAICCHS) trading as Nhulundu Health Service, is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service delivering an integrated, comprehensive primary health care service to the whole Gladstone community.

GRAICCHS provides bulk billing GP services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of Gladstone Regional Council area and Banana Shire, offering chronic disease management, antenatal and postnatal care, immunisation programs, women’s and men’s health, health promotion and prevention programs, aged care and community support service functions.

 

Job Role

The position will as a member of a multidisciplinary team, provide culturally appropriate Adult and/or Paediatric Occupational Therapy services, to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and other clients.

The OT will help elderly, disabled, ill or injured patients improve, regain and develop the skills needed for day to day life and work, through a program of therapeutic interventions including the provision and guidance re use of special equipment as required.

The role will involve service delivery from the GRAICCHS clinic, Aged Care and outreach services, under limited supervision, as required.

Competitive Salary Package – Base Salary depending on experience  + Salary Sacrifice

 

Key Duties include:

  • Provide a range of therapy services to clients in keeping with accepted best practice standards. This will include clinic-based appointments, home visits and potentially school visits.
  • Provide culturally responsive assessment and intervention for adults/children including individual and/or group programs,group education sessions and one on one consultations, as required

 

Key Requirements include:

  • Relevant degree in Occupational Therapy and continuing unconditional registration through AHPRA with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia with currency of practice
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and function in accordance with legislation affecting occupational therapy practice
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with community groups and individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage own workload in order to meet agreed timelines and objectives
  • Knowledge of NDIS, Aged Care and Clinic based therapy service provision systems and practices
  • Current C Class driver’s license is essential
