Senior Medical Officer / VR General Practitioner

(Full time role based in Gladstone)

Our busy practice is looking for a passionate General Practitioner who is interested in joining an enthusiastic and committed team, and making a direct impact on improved health outcomes in the community.

This role involves working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve comprehensive healthcare to our patients. Our Service provides bulk billing GP services, chronic disease management, mental health, women’s and men’s health, visiting allied health specialists, health promotion and prevention programs, visiting specialists, aged care and community support service functions.

Package and Conditions

The package provided for a permanent full time VR GP includes:

  • Great work-life balance (Monday to Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm)
  • Modern clinic, centrally located in main street of city
  • Support from a multidisciplinary team
  • Competitive Salary Package (Gross equivalent up to approx. $355 k p.a.)
    • Base Salary – negotiable based on experience – up to $300,000 pa
    • Superannuation Contribution – maximum up to 9.5% of threshold ($228k salary)
    • Annual Leave – 4 weeks per annum with leave loading
    • Salary Sacrifice– you are able to participate in the scheme where you can attain up t o $30,000 of grossed-up taxable benefit by salary sacrificing up to a value of $15,899.
    • Relocation Support – reimbursement of reasonable costs for moving  household goods , plus assistance with short term accommodation where required
    • Accommodation Support – negotiable – short term rental /leasing support provided
    • Vehicle – use of a vehicle for work and limited private use

Requirements of the Role

The Right Candidate will:

  • Provide best practice comprehensive primary health care
  • Provide leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services
  • Work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide professional supervision and development for Registrars as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and/or Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) – Vocationally Registered
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Medicare Provider Number
  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity towards the social, economic and cultural factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health
  • An ability to effectively communicate and empathise with Aboriginal people while adopting a comprehensive approach to healthcare.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience, in particular the ability to implement and support a medical/primary health care team and effectively plan and coordinate own and health teams workload to achieve results
