Gladstone Region Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (GRAICCHS) trading as Nhulundu Health Service, is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service delivering an integrated, comprehensive primary health care service to the whole Gladstone community.

GRAICCHS provides bulk billing GP services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of Gladstone Regional Council area and Banana Shire, offering chronic disease management, antenatal and postnatal care, immunisation programs, women’s and men’s health, health promotion and prevention programs, aged care and community support service functions.

 

We are looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist, who can immediately take on the front desk and billing responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate busy Front Desk duties, including general administration
  • Implement practices to achieve high booking and attendance rates, including checking time requirements, coordinating daily lists, ringing patients to confirm attendance, managing changes and follow up appointments, monitoring of patient flow /wait times
  • Prioritise clients when necessary and screen urgent phone calls
  • Prompt and accurate entry of Medicare item numbers into Medical Records System. Medicare claims are compiled and lodged daily via Medical Records software including accurate and timely processing of PIP, Medicare Claims and Work-cover Tax Invoices

 

Essential Qualifications / Experience:

  • Certificate 111 in Business Admin/ Medical Reception or equivalent is preferred
  • Sound experience and track record in equivalent  medical services / administration roles
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MBS and the Medicare system, good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal
